Iranian Intelligence services say they have detained 17 Iranian citizens accused of running a spy ring for the United States inside Iran. According to the intelligence ministry, all 17 have already confessed to working for the CIA. “The Identified spies were employed in sensitive and vital private sector centers in the economic, nuclear, infrastructural, military, and cyber areas, where they collected classified information. Defendants serving their sentences in prison mentioning tempting promises of CIA officers including emigration to USA, a proper job in America, and money,[SIC]” the ministry said in a statement. The regime said some of the detained would be executed.

“I can’t add much to it specifically,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News Monday morning. “ I would urge everyone who’s reading that story that the Iranian regime has a long history of lying. They lied about where they shot down the American UAV; they now lied about where they took down this tanker. It’s part of the nature of the Ayatollah to lie to the world.”

This development comes days after the Iranian regime captured a British flagged oil tanker, and detained the crew.
