House Begins Trump Impeachment Inquiry

On Tuesday afternoon, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that the United States House of Representatives is moving forward with a formal impeachment inquiry. This announcement comes on the heels of a “whistleblower accusation” that President Donald Trump inappropriately asked liberal Ukraine President Volodymr Zelensky to reopen an investigation into an energy company in which Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, served on the executive board. It is alleged that President Trump threatened to withhold foreign and military aid money to Ukraine as a direct result of this conversation with the Ukranian President Zelensky.

That same day, President Trump announced that he had authorized the release of a full, unredacted transcript of the July 2019 phone call in question. The President spoke at the UN General Assembly and combatted attacks from Democrats in Washington and their calls for impeachment. Shortly after Speaker Pelosi’s press conference the President tweeted, “They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!” All house committees have been formally instructed to hold any proceedings they deem necessary under the purview of impeachment.
